Established in 2018 by Cricket South Africa, the Mzansi Super League was one of the most exciting T20 cricket competitions in the world.
Only two editions of the MSL T20 competition were played in 2018 and 2019 before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The league consisted of six teams and attracted superstar players from around the world, including Chris Gayle, Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Dale Steyn, Jason Roy, and AB De Villiers.
MSL T20 Teams

The MSL T20 competition featured six teams from major South African cities:
- Tshwane Spartans
- Jozi Stars
- Nelson Mandela Bay Giants
- Durban Heat
- Cape Town Blitz
- Paarl Rocks
The Jozi Stars became the inaugural champions in 2018, defeating the Cape Town Blitz by 8 wickets, and the Paarl Rocks became the second edition champions in 2019 by defeating the Tshwane Spartans by 8 wickets.
