Sisanda Magala has a ‘no fear’ mindset. The sturdy young seamer can keep his nerve under intense pressure. His confidence has increased as his performances have grown in stature.
The consistent speedy Warriors player had an excellent domestic season last season in all three formats of the game, however he has proven to be quite lethal in the shortest format. Magala is very excited to be playing in the Mzansi League as he says that it is an ideal platform to test his skills against the country’s best.
He was thrilled to have been chosen to play for the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and to play in front of his home crowd at St George’s Park. The two things that he has really enjoyed most about the new league so far is the atmosphere and thrill at each of the matches. Bowling to players like AB De Villiers and Chris Gayle has been a great opportunity to test his skills. Magala took 3-17 against the Paarl Rock on Friday night.
He says that there is nothing that beats the emotion of having to step out on the field in front of your home ground. Being a Giant means the world to him and he is enjoying being part of the next phase of South African cricket history.
When asked if he had any encouraging words for the future generation of cricketers who were aspiring Giants, he said “Never give up, you never know how close you really are”.
Come and watch Magala, Dala and the rest of the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants as they channel their current good form into their last home match on Saturday 8 December at St George’s Park.
